Las Vegas, NV – Southern Nevada Senior Law Program (SLP) announced today that it has received a grant from the Mesquite Regional Community Fund to expand its capacity to serve older adults in the Mesquite, Virgin Valley, and Moapa Valley communities. The funding will enable SLP to expand outreach and bring critical legal services directly to seniors in the area. 

SLP has provided free, high-quality legal services to residents aged 60 and older across Clark, Esmeralda, Lincoln, and Nye counties since 1978. SLP staff and volunteer pro bono attorneys regularly travel to communities outside of the Las Vegas metro area, including Mesquite, Sandy Valley, Pahrump, and Tonopah, to conduct presentations and workshops and assist with essential legal documents. This new grant strengthens that commitment by deepening the organization’s presence in Mesquite to meet growing demand.  

“Seniors outside the urban core in Southern Nevada and rural areas often struggle to access legal help,” said Diane Fearon, Executive Director of SLP. “This grant enables us to provide more appointments and outreach, ensuring older adults can age with dignity, whether they need estate planning, help with benefits or housing issues, or protection from elder abuse and exploitation.”

SLP offers free assistance on eviction defense, estate planning, powers of attorney, guidance on Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare benefits, consumer issues, and elder abuse and exploitation cases.  

The Mesquite Regional Community Fund supports projects that strengthen local nonprofits and build capacity to deliver meaningful programs. “Legal services are vital for seniors to maintain their indepe

With this investment, SLP will establish a more consistent and reliable presence in Mesquite, ensuring seniors in the region no longer face long rives or extended waits for the legal help they deserve.
