Celebrating Advocacy: SLP Salutes Senior Advocates
On October 23, 2024, the Southern Nevada Senior Law Program (SLP) hosted its annual SLP Salutes Senior Advocates event, an evening dedicated to honoring the extraordinary pro bono attorneys who make a difference in the lives of seniors across Southern Nevada. This celebration was a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the community’s unwavering support and the tireless efforts of those committed to serving our most vulnerable populations.
The evening was a remarkable success, filled with meaningful moments, delicious food, and the warmth of community camaraderie. SLP was privileged to welcome Nevada Supreme Court Justice Kristina Pickering, whose advocacy for access to justice continues to inspire. Special recognition was also given to Mariteresa Rivera-Rogers, a dedicated attorney and long-time supporter of SLP’s mission, for her outstanding contributions to advancing legal services for seniors.

Pro bono attorneys are the backbone of SLP’s ability to provide critical legal assistance. Their work ensures seniors receive guidance on matters ranging from estate planning to elder abuse prevention, eviction assistance, and beyond. This event allowed SLP to reflect on the profound impact these advocates have on the community and reaffirm its commitment to serving seniors in need.
